Meet Pachia Thao, Board of Directors
This is first in series of posts where we will introduce you to BTC’s volunteer Board of Directors!
Pachia Thao is a Peer Advisor for the College of Liberal Arts (CLA) at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities. She assists students with their academic schedules, academic advising meetings, and gives them resources to refer to on the campus. Experience includes an internship at the 3M company, serving as a Data Specialist at United Subcontractors Inc., and being a Section Leader of 25 freshmen for their First Year Experience course in CLA.
As an alumna of the Breakthrough Twin Cities program, she has experienced firsthand the wonderful and impactful things Breakthrough has to offer. Before Breakthrough, dreaming of going to college seemed almost impossible as she grew up in a very difficult home setting. However, when she found out about Breakthrough and began to participate in the program, it gave her the resources she needed, and showed her how to get to and achieve in college, despite one’s background. That is why she wants to give back to Breakthrough by serving on the Board as the student voice. Breakthrough helped in making her dream a reality, and now she wants to help other students like her who come from a similar disadvantageous background get the resources and access they need to go to college.
Pachia Thao is currently a sophomore majoring in Communication Studies with double minors in Sociology and Leadership at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities. Pachia joined the BTC Board in 2017.
