PROGRAM DIRECTOR

MAYA ZEIGLER

Maya joined the Breakthrough team as of December 2020. She is originally from Philly, PA and after moving around a bit, has now called the Twin Cities home for three years. Maya’s career in education began as an AmeriCorps fellow in Boston, MA where she worked with middle school students as an English Language Arts tutor and student advocate. Maya’s career has been student focused ever since and she thoroughly enjoys working with and supporting student programs that promote empowerment and education as a means to an autonomous life. Maya is also a strong advocate for equity, working to provide an equal playing field for all and infusing racial/social justice practices into all decision making.

In her free time, Maya enjoys exploring all of the beautiful nature that Minnesota has to offer and documenting it via photograph and video. She also enjoys spending time updating her blog, catching up with friends and binge watching new (and old) television shows!
