VP AND ASSOCIATE GENERAL COUNSEL, SWORD HEALTH
MARLON CUSH
Board Chair
Marlon Cush joined the Breakthrough Twin Cities Board of Directors in August of 2015 and has been Board Chair since June 2020. In Marlon’s words, “I joined and continue to serve because I believe in BTC’s two-pronged mission of investing in and developing our most valuable asset: the minds of our young men and women. Education, opportunity, sponsorship, and family has made me who I am, and I want to pay forward my blessings.”
Originally from Guyana in South America, Marlon is a transplant to the Twin Cities from the Northeast (from as far north as Exeter, New Hampshire, and as far south as Washington, D.C.) In Marlon’s words, “the opportunity to do sophisticated legal work at a leading law firm in a state ripe with Fortune 500s and a strong, diverse economy brought me here more than a decade ago. The relationships I’ve built with mentors, mentees, sponsors, and friends have kept me here.”
Working as a senior in-house lawyer at a large diversified healthcare company, Marlon earned his Masters in Business Administration from the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota. While raising a family with his beautiful wife, Marlon mentors young lawyers of color and law school students in the Twin Cities. In Marlon’s words, “with guidance, support, and sponsorship, those new lawyers, like the BTC students, can reach amazing heights that lift us all.”
