ACADEMIC SUCCESS FELLOW
KATHERINE SPENCE
Katherine joined Breakthrough as a Literature Teaching Fellow for Summer 2025 and is thrilled to continue supporting students during the school year as an Academic Success Fellow. Originally from the Twin Cities, she graduated from Colby College with a Bachelor’s degree in English Literature and Creative Writing
Katherine’s passion for supporting, connecting with, and advocating for students is at the heart of her work. Before college, she served as a leader at Korean Culture Camp of Minnesota, a main-stage choreographer for SteppingStone Theatre for Youth Development, and a local tutor for math and Mandarin Chinese. While living in Maine, she mentored K-5 students weekly at Clinton Elementary, facilitated after-school movement workshops at Albert S. Hall School, and worked as a Learning Assistant for undergraduate courses.
In her free time, Katherine enjoys taking dance classes, spending time with her family, and baking for her small business, Kate’s Cakes.
